Inmate Property Storage System for Canada’s Second Largest Jail

Inmate Property Storage System for Canada’s Second Largest Jail

Inmate Property Storage System for Canada’s Second Largest Jail Background: The Toronto South Detention Centre opened in 2014. This maximum-medium security correctional facility was built to replace three local jails in the Toronto: the Toronto Jail (Known as the Don Jail), the Toronto West Detention Centre and the Mimico Correctional Centre. The Mimico Centre, parts of which dated back to 1887, was finally demolished in 2011 to make room for the new state-of-the-art Toronto South Detention Centre. Challenge: As the second largest jail in Canada, the Toronto South Detention Centre has a capacity for over 2000 inmates. By law, all inmate property must be stored safely while individuals are incarcerated. At this centre, anywhere from 200-400 inmates may be entering or leaving the facility on a daily basis requiring either storage or access to their individual personal property. Efficient and secure management (storage and retrieval) of this large amount of property was a key requirement for the new inmate property storage system at the Toronto South Detention Centre. Overhead Conveyor Customer Success Story

Overhead Conveyor Customer Success Story

Overhead Conveyor Customer Success Story New integrator finds PACLINE conveyors easy to install for paint finishing customer A discussion with Art Koch of Unified Technologies Unified Technologies in Cleveland, Ohio has provided high quality shot blast equipment, washers, spare parts, technical support, service, and blast media since 1999. They provide a full range of shot blast and wash systems to handle the wide variety of customer applications. Art Koch, president of Unified Technologies was looking for the best conveyor product to recommend for his customer, Advanced Gas and Welding Solutions LLC. Advanced Gas and Welding Solutions needed to find a way to increase production by automating their process for painting gas propane bottles. Koch started with an on-line search and came across PACLINE’s video called Overhead Conveyor System Basics.  This gave him a quick overview of PACLINE’s overhead conveyors and led him to another video that very specifically demonstrated the exact application his customer was looking for!  – Wet Spray Finishing Conveyor System for Painting Propane Bottles. We asked Art to tell us about his first experience with PACLINE Overhead Conveyors. Miles of Conveyors for Under Armour® Distribution House

Miles of Conveyors for Under Armour® Distribution House

Miles of Conveyors for Under Armour® Distribution House Under Armour® started in 1996 as a simple plan by founder Kevin Plank to make a superior T-shirt for athletes – a shirt that provided compression and that would wick perspiration off the skin rather than absorb it. Plank, then 23 years old, produced shirts out of his grandmother’s basement and at the end of 1996 had $17,000 in sales. Under Armour® has experienced extraordinary success and growth over the years, now selling their products around the world. Revenue in 2015 reached $3.96 billion and the growth continues with a 2016 forecast of $4.96 billion! To successfully support this volume of sales, the company has had to create and maintain some of the largest manufacturing and distribution centers in this industry. In 2014, Under Armour® began building the 2 new distribution centers – one on the west coast (Rialto, CA) and one in the east (Mt. Juliet, TN). To pull this off, they needed to work with companies who had solid, proven track records in terms of engineering expertise, product quality, and the ability to deliver the volume of installed equipment on the timelines required. PACLINE’s role: PACLINE was chosen to provide the overhead monorail conveyors for empty carton and tote handling for both of the new Under Armour® facilities. The Conveyor Challenge: The larger of the two new distribution centers for Under Armour® was being built in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. This facility would occupy over 1 million square feet. The empty carton and empty tote conveyor systems were to be fully integrated with the other roller and belt style conveyors...
Understanding Power and Free Conveyor Components

Understanding Power and Free Conveyor Components

Understanding Power and Free Conveyor Components Everything you need to know about PACLINE Power and Free Conveyors Pacline’s enclosed track Power and Free Conveyor is a medium-capacity conveyor system, ideal for a wide range of manufacturing processes and assembly applications. Painting, curing, sequencing and buffer storage are some of the common applications of power and free overhead conveyors. The Pacline Power and Free Conveyor system uses a square track and chain for the powered portion of the conveyor system. The “free” track carries the product load, parallel to and directly below the power track. The free track is an assembly consisting of two formed channels to suit the free trolley load and guide wheels. Attached to the motor-driven chain are the pusher-dogs, which convey the free trolleys around the system. The ability for the trolleys to disengage from the pusher-dog is what makes a conveyor “Power and Free”. Unmatched loading and unloading rates are possible since the trolley and carrier can separate from the powered chain. Like all of our overhead conveyor systems, the Pacline Power and Free Conveyor system is designed to free up valuable floor space. Let’s go over some of the Power and Free Conveyor Components and see how it works: A sequence of switches and stops allows the trolleys to become independent of the power track for processing or transfer operations. The trolleys can be rerouted onto adjacent spur lines or stopped in-line. Furthermore, logic control of these devices allows for total automatic operation of the entire conveyor system. Power Drive Unit Utilizing either an off-line sprocket (left) or in-line caterpillar drive (right) ensures years of...
Examples of Environmentally Responsible Conveyor Projects

Examples of Environmentally Responsible Conveyor Projects

Examples of Environmentally Responsible Conveyor Projects Happy Earth Day 2016! Never has concern for our environment been more top of mind than it is today. For many consumers and corporations, it has become a moral obligation to adopt processes and practices that reduce environmental impact. At PACLINE we have had the unique opportunity to work with a number of companies who truly reflect this commitment to reducing their negative impact on the environment.  These organizations have also ‘opened our eyes’ to some fascinating products that have developed from this commitment. So in light of Earth Day, we thought we should share several customer cases that focus on industries and products created out of environmental responsibility. Turning Tires into Tiles and More Since 2009 Ontario tire recyclers such as Emterra have helped create thousands of jobs, and over 50 million tires have been diverted from landfills to produce useful products such as floor tiles, automotive products and garden mulch. By utilizing a PAC-MAX™ heavy duty overhead conveyor system Emterra improved efficiency in their sorting and recycling plant allowing them to increase their throughput from 3,500 to 7,000 tires per day! Farming that is Growing ‘UP’ The movement towards more sustainable agriculture aimed at reducing waste and water consumption has led to many innovative practices and huge expansion in indoor growing. For instance, the vertical growing system developed by Urban Produce in Irvine, Californina operates the equivalence of 16 acres of traditional farming within a 1/8 acre footprint, year round, and  with 90% less water! PACLINE provided the I-Beam overhead conveyor that supports this unique High Density Vertical Growing System.  Our I-Beam conveyor was able to transport the maximum number of growing trays within the small...
